About IGF-1 LR3
IGF-1 LR3 (Long R3 IGF-1) is an 83-amino-acid analogue of human insulin-like growth factor 1, which has 70. It carries a 13-amino-acid extension at the N-terminus and an arginine in place of glutamic acid at position 3.
Both changes reduce binding to the IGF-binding proteins (IGFBPs), the carrier proteins that normally hold IGF-1 in an inactive state. The result is a form of IGF-1 that stays available to the IGF-1 receptor for longer. That is why IGF-1 LR3 is widely used in cell culture, including as a supplement in serum-free media, and in research on IGF-1 receptor signalling, cell proliferation and protein synthesis.
Form and storage
Supplied as a lyophilised (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial. Keep unopened vials cold, dry and out of direct light: refrigerated for short periods, frozen for longer storage. Our guide to storing lyophilised peptides summarises the published stability research.

2Lyophilised peptides in transit
Freeze-dried peptides travel as a dry solid in a sealed vial, which is far more robust than a solution. When the parcel arrives, move the vials to cold storage, away from light and moisture.
Frequently asked
Why does the vial look almost empty?
A few milligrams of freeze-dried peptide is a very small amount of solid. It often dries as a thin film or small cake on the base or wall of the vial, which is easy to miss. It dissolves once the vial is reconstituted.
Is bacteriostatic water included?
No. Diluent is sold separately, and the peptide calculator works out concentration and draw volume for the amount of water you add.
